Teams

August was one of the few quiet months at Riverside

And it gives us a chance to reflect on all that has happened during the busy and sometimes chaotic spring and summer months for our program.

This past Spring our younger student athletes worked hard to complete their online academic enrichment courses. We worked with many of our middle school boys and girls to help them gain admission and/or transfer to independent high schools – parochial and boarding schools.  And this summer our high school boys and girls prepared for the grueling college admissions process by studying for the SAT/ACT, visiting college campuses and participating in tournaments and showcases in front of hundreds of college basketball coaches.

That is not to say, they did not have fun.  Over the summer our teams competed and excelled in exciting national championship tournaments in places such as Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia and Washington DC, and while there visited schools and cultural institutions like the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the ML King Center in Atlanta.  And somehow they found the time to host here at Riverside a boys and girls high school team from Israel and a boys middle school team from China.  Each day is an exciting adventure for players, coaches and parents.

With the summer coming to a close and before we get “back to school”, we wanted to use this opportunity to say – Thank You!  Our program would not exist without your generous support.  We are excited about the opportunities we have been able to help create for our student-athletes and look forward to another great year.  Wishing you all the best during this upcoming school year from all of us at Riverside!!
